Four Fur Feet was developed through the Early Literacy Project at Hollins University. We are grateful for the contributions from Margaret Wise Brown, author and Hollins alumna, and Ruth Sanderson, illustrator and Co-Director of the MFA in Children’s Book Writing and Illustrating at Hollins University. We also thank Mike Franke, president of the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association, who contributed to this project by composing the music and singing the lyrics to the Fur Four Feet song available on this website. This work was supported by an IMPACT Grant and a Faculty Research Grant, both from Hollins University.

This book is dedicated to Turn the Page, a non-profit organization in Roanoke, Virginia, whose mission is to increase awareness of the benefits of reading with children from birth and to provide every child born in the Roanoke Valley with his or her own home library of books during the first three years of life.
